Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as a technical expert, to lead projects, and mentor/coach other personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, preparation of verification test protocols and reports, and prototype fabrication
  • Prioritize project activity, work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, and motivate others to reach objectives
  • Work with other engineers using systematic methods and procedures and efficiently transition products to manufacturing (i.e. documentation, BOMs, manufacturing cell setup and assembly procedures)
  • Work with Operations and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure smooth transition of products to manufacturing. This will include the development of Bill of Materials, identification of vendors, development of assembly procedures/documentation, design of fixturing, set up of manufacturing line and training of assembly operators
  • Apply knowledge in a broad range of topics within Mechanical Engineering, reflecting in-depth knowledge in some specialty areas
  • Help to identify, quantify and implements tools, methods and processes which improve the quality, reliability and productivity of the Department

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Opto-Mechanical, or other related engineering discipline (Advanced degree highly desirable)
  • 10+ years of Mechanical product design/engineering experience required, including the use of standard mechanical engineering analysis and software (i.e. FEA, kinematics, fluid dynamics and tolerance analysis)
  • Experience in design for manufacturability and assembly
  • Experience with the design and manufacture of plastic molded parts, sheet metal, bent tube components and welded components/assemblies
  • Demonstrated mastery in the use of SolidWorks and Solidworks PDM
  • Experienced usage of PLM software; Ominfy PLM is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated drive and ability to achieve goals in an innovative and fast paced environment
